Remembered
Thunder
Thunder age 14, on 07/01/04:
Good Morning,
It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that we peacefully had
Thunder euthanized this morning following an abrupt and heartbreaking setback in
his health. Due to major deterioration of spinal disks, substantial vertebrae
calcification, and extreme pain due to his arthritic condition he lost all
muscular control of his rear legs. His tail he had not wagged in over two weeks,
and in good health he was a strong tail-wagger. This morning he could not lift
his head more than a few inches from the floor and communicate with us through
his beautiful, but sad, tearing eyes.
We loved him dearly, asking nothing in return. And he reciprocated in his warm
gentle manner. Thunder was a true gentleman; a tribute to his breed and lineage.
According to his certified pedigree that the American Kennel Club so graciously
shared with us, he came from an impressive line of champions. However, one thing
that the AKC will never know is that Sassy's Golden Thunder was the true
Champion of the family. All that matters is -- we know.
Thank you and the GRR for granting us the pleasure of Thunder's presence,
companionship, and love over the past 2 years and 3 months.
Warm regards,
John & Liz Horne
