Audrey was found wandering along the
highway. Her collar had tags, but the owners disappeared with no forwarding
address. A kindly vet kept 11+ year old Audrey in his kennel. No one came for
the tall sturdy girl.

Audrey was found wandering along the

address. A kindly vet kept 11+ year old Audrey in his kennel. No one came for
the tall sturdy girl.
For over a month, Audrey has lived in our home. She watches me while I fold clothes, and climbs the stairs to help Gary as he works in his office. Audrey is friends with all 6 of our Goldens, but her favorite companions are Abby (13) and Tag (12+). Audrey finds quiet spots for her afternoon naps…behind the couch, under my work table, behind me as I work at the computer. She watches the other dogs hop on the couch, but chooses to relax on the cool tile floor.
Audrey must have helped raise children when she was young. At Jean’s, she was calm & relaxed with a friendly, not-too-steady-on-her-feet toddler. She let the girls have tea parties on her back. She’s a motherly type who likes it when you use her for a pillow or lie next to her for a cuddle. Audrey feels safe.
Audrey has long legs and big sturdy bones. She’s tall and solid. She’s been dieting, and now we can see her waistline. Audrey hated fruits & vegetables when she first moved in…she picked the green beans out of her bowl & tossed them on the floor. Nowadays, Audrey likes bananas & gazpacho & asparagus & candied pineapple. She enjoys tastes of whole wheat bread with peanut butter, but not with honey. Her all-time favorite is chicken & rice casserole.
Audrey was stiff & sore when she first moved out of the vet’s kennel. Glucosamine has been a secret potion for her. Now we see her break into a gallop across the yard, or bounce with happiness. 10 days after starting Glucosamine, she stunned us by climbing 16 stairs, up to Gary’s office. We wish we had a pool, because Audrey does know how to swim. She took a dive into Jean’s pool, enjoyed a leisurely lap, and stepped out at the ramp with total nonchalance.
Audrey is a spectacular houseguest, and we are enjoying every minute with her. We wonder which of you will become her permanent family…she’s the kind of calm, kind-hearted, easy going girl who could be a good fit with almost any household. Mostly, what she needs is love and companionship. She’s a peach.
