My name is Dakota. I am a 7 year old male. I was given to GRR by my
owners because they knew GRR could find me a home where I would get a lot more
attention. I spent my entire life outside, but when I came to GRR, my foster mom
let me stay inside, and I love it. But I also like to play outside with my
friends, Stella (8 yr. female golden) and Lucky (5 yr. female lab). We love to
chase after the ball and see who can get it first.
Did I tell you I LOVE ATTENTION? If I see another dog getting
attention, I will march over there and put my nose right under my foster mom’s
hand. I might even give her a nudge or two with my nose just in case she doesn't
know I'm sitting there waiting for my turn. Like I said before, I spent my life
outside, but I’m learning how to be a good house dog. Sometimes there are a
few temptations in the kitchen. I'll sneak in when nobody is looking and might
snatch a loaf of bread off the counter. I also like paper. If it's on the
floor, it’s in my mouth. My foster mom is helping me learn that I must leave
those things alone and concentrate on my toys. Here’s some good news, I don't
jump on the furniture! And even though I was an outside dog, I will go to the
door if I have to go potty. But there are times when I can't hold it and I have
an accident. My foster mom also has to remember to keep me outside long enough
to finish my business.
I love walks in the park. Squirrels and birds perk up my ears, but I
don't chase after them....too quick for me. I went for my first run
yesterday. I ran about 1 mile before I started to tire. My foster mom could
hardly keep up. I'm great in the car. I will stand and look out the window most
of the time. There are a few times I will take a rest and lie down, but there
are just so many neat things to look at.
When it's time to go to bed I run into my foster moms bedroom and lay down on my
doggy bed. I sleep great through the night. I will occasionally have doggy
dreams and wake up howling until my foster mom turns on the light and tells me
everything is okay. I'm so cute in the morning. I get up when everyone else
wakes up, and love to have my head rubbed....what a great way to start the day!
I did have surgery on both of my ears recently.. I had really bad ear
problems when I came to Gold Ribbon. They were so nice to give me the treatment
I needed to take the pain away. I will always be grateful!
