Dory

Hi there, I’m Dory. I am a San Antonio girl who was rescued, as Bonnie Raitt would say, “in the nick of time”.

I’m very grateful that I was picked up and taken to the Shelter so that GGR could help me. I was covered with ticks and fleas and somehow developed an icky, icky nasal condition. I even had to spend a few nights in isolation to make sure I wasn’t contagious. All is OK. I’m all better now and ready to romp – which I like to do at every chance!

I live with my foster siblings, Rio and Chablis, so I am the youngster in the house. It’s way cool because our folks go to H.E.B. and get us beef feet from the meat counter and we chew and chew and chew. Don’t tell my siblings, but I like to take and bury mine along the fence line or at the base of a tree….they never notice but my foster folks nearly die laughing at the tell tale traces on my nose!

We have lots of things to play with, and I even get to sleep on Rio’s cushy round pillow and he never says a word! I have not had to be crated, though I do sleep in the laundry room at night – you know, every dog needs their “space”.

I’m a bit of a chow hound…my food is gone in about two minutes. I take treats really gently, and I love the red kong filled with goodies…I will chew on it all day long. I wondered what life was like on the furniture a couple of times, but my family has me get down right away. I tried jumping up on the bed two times also, and I guess that’s not a spot for puppies, since they had me get down and my sibs kind of smirked then shook their heads at my puppy behavior.

I like to play fetch but my family watches out for me because I’m being treated for heartworms right now. When I do play, I’m learning to drop the ball rather than keep it to myself after I bring it back. Sometimes I get excited and want to jump up and kiss my family, but they say down and turn away from me so I just shrug and get down. I don’t take things off the counter, probably because I’m too small to get up there, but I do find the trash can to be a veritable source of goodies from coffee grounds to butter wrappers. And rather than sip out of the community water bowl, I think eau de toilet is much more refreshing…I like to head that direction when it thunders too, but I’m trying to get over that – Chablis doesn’t much care for that loud noise either so we kind of hang together.

As you can see from my picture, in all modesty, I’m petite with big brown eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. I’m happy to be safe and loved. I want a family with kids and/or other dogs, (I think kitties are for chasing!). I’m a natural mostly smooth coated redhead who loves to be groomed and thinks ear cleaning is just fine. I ride in the car like a well behaved young lady should and I love to walk on the leash. I am the perfect girl to march around PetSmart or PetCo because I am patient and well behaved. My family says I’m “aDORYable”. I love everybody – I will love you and your family too!

Hugs and slobbery kisses,

Dory
