ADOPTED
Charity...
Her story is a sad and probably all too common one.
A
few weeks ago, she became ill and her previous owners took her to the vet where
she was diagnosed with Parvo. They had not given her any of the shots which
would have protected her from this illness. Upon hearing the cost of the
treatment, they decided that this lovely 10 month old would just be put to
sleep.
As
luck would have it, they had taken her to our wonderful vet who decided that she
was a life worth saving and he instead treated her and called us to see if we
could take her into rescue. I made a quick trip to his office to check out this
beautiful golden girl, and she came home with us the Wednesday before
Thanksgiving.
She is so lucky to be here and we feel so lucky that we are getting to spend
this time with her. She is now fully recovered and is doing wonderfully in her
foster home.
Charity
gets along with everyone -- human and animal -- that she meets. Even though she
has only been here for a short while, she has convinced our slightly older, more
mature (and lazy) dogs that a little puppy roughhousing once or twice a day is a
good thing. On the flip side, they have taught her the joys of lounging around
as a couch potato after a good romp in the yard. She is quite calm and loveable
in the house.
Charity loves to cuddle and have her neck and belly rubbed. She will sit
patiently at your feet waiting for a short while for your attention, but if you
wait too long, she just carefully sneaks into your lap as if to
say..."OK....here I am, remember me...you were petting me..."
She gets along great with her foster sibling, Sister Kitty. She's not even
curious about her and our cat doesn't hesitate to just walk up to her.
We are still learning about this darling girl, so watch for more as we get to
know her better.
And by the way, it's not just her
sweet personality that makes
Charity extra-special-as you can see from the photos, she was born
without a tail. But that doesn't make this girl any less Golden. (And
just think, you'll never have to worry about a wagging tail sweeping
cups and glasses off the coffee table!)
